Hello!
I know I can deploy an application made with WebRatio in an Amazon EC2 instance and the database in Amazon RDS (using MySQL).
But as an individual I don't have the resources and time to manage the app in case of a problem or a suddenly demand increasing.
Even if I had these resources, sometimes is interesting focus your efforts in other areas, like business or logic.
Affortunately, there are some services or companies that just do this, you give them your web app and they deal with problems and scalabilty for you. Evidently this services are not for free.
The most famous are RightScale (used by many facebook games created by Zynga) and Scalr (90% RightScale features for only 10% of RightScale price).
You can see how they work in this nice video:
http://www.scalr.net/screencast.html
So, my question is, can I create a web app with WebRatio/WebML and deploy it using Scalr (or RightScale) into the cloud in order to delegate scalability and maintenace to Scalr (or RightScale)?
That is, I avoid having to restore my MySQL instance, replicate them, launching more app instances..
What do you think?
I guess because generated app is just a Java app that uses MySQL, there is no problem with this deploying way, but not sure.
Had anyone any experience with this?
Thanks a lot for your help and time.
Ricardo.
